We use laughing Gas alone or on top of oral sedation depending on your procedure and anxiety level. The gas is nitrous oxide administered through a mask over your nose. You are conscious during this type of sedation and the effects take place anywhere between 30 seconds to 4 minutes. It takes about 5 minutes for effects to wear off then we give you the go ahead to drive home. The advantage of laughing gas is there is no set amount of time it will last during sedation, allowing us to administer this for the exact time needed.
Oral Sedation
Oral Sedation, also known as conscious sedation leaves you awake but remembering little or nothing. An oral sedative is a pill. Your dentist provides this pill prior to treatment, usually an hour before so that during your procedure you will feel sleepy. Sleepiness sticks around for 24 hours after your dosage therefore it is imperative someone drive you to and from the dentist.
Depending on your personal circumstances, you may be hooked up to monitors during the dental routine so our dental professionals at Cambrian Dental can monitor your heart rate, breathing and blood pressure.

With IV sedation, it is important you be driven to and from the dentist office and taken home immediately after the procedure. We give you a cream to numb the area where the drug injection is made because we want you to be comfortable
